How To Repair Rc Models
By Matt Robison

RC models are prone to break and damage, especially the model-grade ones that can go really fast or fly really high. It's best to have a little knowledge as to how to repair your RC models. For warranty purposes, you can contact your model manufacturer for replacement and they might accept replacing those parts that breaks or wears out easily. This is the first option to take. If this option is not available, however, the following steps can be possible before you finally decide to trash your model.

The first that you can do is to try a new set of batteries and see to it that both the RC and the transmitter are still working. If you are sure that your receiver is defective, try to find a replacement at your local hobby store or at an online retailer. It doesn't have to be exactly the same either. Other receivers will normally work interchangeably with other as long as they are using the same frequency.

Checking your model's transmitter is the best next step that you can do. Always see to it that both parts receive the same frequency and that the setting has not been changed. Replacing a transmitter will also do, by buying a similar RC model at your local thrift

store. Similar to receivers, other transmitters will work out fine with your RC model as long as they have the same frequency.

Check if some foreign object like water, dirt, or mud is present on your model by taking the casing apart. Your instruction manual for the model should show you how. If you see some dusty parts, try cleaning them with a canned air. Or carefully wipe it off using a microfiber cloth. However, if there is too much water, you can try drying it off under the sun or using a hair dryer. Be sure and disconnect and remove any batteries.
If the steps above still do not work out, you can try look for some loose wiring, broken parts or gears. Maybe you can try using a magnifier to see loose parts and try fixing them with tape or hobby glue.

If all of the steps above are not working and you have found your RC's internal components beyond salvaging, but the body still looking good, you can try upgrading your model RC with more Hobby-grade parts. This can be a little costly. But it will be worth it for quality parts. However, if you're not comfortable with that type of repair, it might be better for you to purchase a completely new vehicle for your fun.
